A totally non book related post...

....and I know there aren't many of them... But I wanted to share the other thing I love (almost) as much as reading. And that is quilting.

Ignore the date on the photo - I did just finish it this week. (Apparently if you change the batteries in the camera you're expected to change the date and time as well...) And the colour is a bit off - it's actually darker. (Hint - do not shoot into direct sunlight)

So my dear husband complains that everyone else has been a beneficiary of a quilt but him. So this is his very own couch quilt and he'll be toasty when he falls asleep in front of the television. He totally avoids the sewing room, so it should be a surprise on Christmas Day!

That is beautiful. I haven't crocheted for awhile, but when I was an avid crocheter I was always making things for family members, except for my husband. So that was always his complaint also..."When do I get mine?" lol

Your quilt is beautiful. Your hubby won't be surprised if he reads your blog.

Luanne, it's absolutely beautiful! I've often thought of getting into quilting but with the knitting and crocheting I'm not sure I should.

That's absolutely gorgeous! You're very talented. I've always admired quilts, and I'd love to learn how to make them some day.

Jo-Jo - thanks! There was a crocheted throw on the couch, but it was smaller and he's kind of a big guy so it never really covered him!

Red Lady Bonnie - thank you! More pics? At the rate I'm going it will be next Christmas before I finsih another one!

Anna - thank you! My grandmothers taught me to sew at a young age and I've always loved fondling fabric!!

Holy cow, Luanne, that is absolutely gorgeous!! I've always wanted to quilt (even have all the equipment to do so), but just never quite got the hang of it.

I'd love to be able to make lap quilts out of my kid's baby clothes someday.

You do beautiful work!

bkclubcare - Thank you!

Michele - I think that would be a great idea. When they were older, youcould tell stories based on memories of a bit of cloth.

It's so beautiful! He will love it and be so surprised. I love to do crafts, draw and paint. I made my kids a baby quilt a long time ago and have everything to make mine but haven't finished it. Someday. A friend of mine had her only child graduate last year and she made him a quilt out of all of his favorite T-shirts. I always thought that was the coolest idea. I would love to do that for my kids.
