You Can't Judge a Book By Its Cover #36

- You can't judge a book by its cover - which is very true.
But you can like one cover version better than another...

US/Canadian cover
UK cover
There are so many great books coming out this winter! Here's a debut thriller by Paula Hawkins that's on my list - The Girl on the Train. The US/Canadian cover is on the left and the UK cover is on the right.  Both employ movement on the cover to illustrate the train. But I think I like the UK cover better this week. I like the lettering better - and the blurb hints at a great suspense read. Will you be picking this debut? Which cover do you prefer?
You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover is a regular Saturday feature on A Bookworm's World.

I read the ARC of this book. I think the U.S./Canadian version will have the best cover if the ARC is a good indication.

Look at the UK cover. It's a picture of the outside of the train as it speeds past. You see the window in the train and can assume the main character is in the train at that window.

The U.S. cover is the opposite. It 's a blurry look at railroad tracks (for trains going in the opposite direction)and houses in the background. But you might not realize this is what you're looking at if the US/Canadian edition didn't come inside a sleeve. The sleeve has a cutout for a train window. So the cover is as if you are inside the moving train, looking out the window, just as the main character does twice a day, five days a week. It is the most clever book cover I've ever seen.

Your picture of the US/Canadian cover doesn't include the sleeve, and it should if this edition is sold the way the ARC is.

Hey Tech Editor:

I have a Canadian ARC and it did not come in a sleeve. When looking at the publisher sites in US and Canada I don't see a sleeve. Or on the amazon sites for US and Canada. I will have to look at the bookstore in January to see if it being sold in a sleeve.
