You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover #195

- You can't judge a book by its cover - which is very true.
But you can like one cover version better than another....

US cover
UK cover
You might not be familiar with Elly Griffith's Ruth Galloway series - but it's a favourite of mine. It's a character driven series and that's what keeps me coming back. The newest book, The Dark Angel releases in February in the UK and in May in North America. (I highly recommend starting from the first book). The US cover is on the left and the UK cover is on the right. Both covers match 'the branding' that has been used in the previous books. The US cover gives us a sky (heaven?) shot looking up. Makes sense with angel in the title. My vertigo doesn't like the the angle of the buildings though! The UK cover gives us an actual image of an angel - albeit in a cemetery. History plays a large part in this series so this image is quite fitting. I'm going with the UK cover this week. What about you? Have you read this series before? Any plans to read The Dark Angel? Which cover do you prefer?

I prefer the UK cover as well.

I'm having a hard time choosing. I think the UK cover does cover the 'angel' angle better, but the other one suggest more of the Italian setting. And, yes, I love this series. Love it! I suggest that readers try at least the first book - THE CROSSING PLACES - if they haven't read it - just to get the back story.

UK is the winner this week! And if you've not read this series, I agree with Kay - start with The Crossing Places - you'll be hooked!
