You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover #330

- You can't judge a book by its cover - which is very true.
But you can like one cover version better than another...

US cover
UK cover
John Grisham has a new legal thriller - A Time For Mercy -
coming out this fall. It will be the third book to feature Jake Brigance from A Time to Kill. And I will most likely listen to it - I do enjoy his legal thrillers. The US cover is on the left and the UK cover is on the right. I like the starry sky on the US and the isolated road cutting through the woods. But what is that flare of light? My guess would be fire. The UK cover has an even more isolated road with - yep, you guessed it - a cabin with a light shining out of a window. Dark, cloudy sky included. I'm going to go with the US cover this week. The sky sold me. What about you? Which cover do you prefer?
Any plans to read A Time For Mercy?
You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover is a regular feature at A Bookworm's World.

It's funny, the UK cover looks so...UK-y! I like what I saw and what you said about the sky, I'm in for the US this week!

Not a fan of the US cover. Prefer the road leading to the isolated house but do wish that the cover designer had extended the grey-green sky all the way to the top. Rather a bland upper half. Still, my vote is for the UK
Happy reading (listening)!

Had a closer look at UK cover. All the windows appear to be boarded up. A mysterious light appears to be shining from outside onto door/window boards? Hmmm...

holdenj - it does look 'UK-y ! I think at first glance, I might have thought thatched roof. You and I make 2 for the US cover.

Icewineanne - hmm, I see what you mean about the colour fading out on the UK cover. Oh, you've got good eyes - I didn't see the boarded up windows!

And Icewinneanne's vote makes it 2 to 1 for the US cover....so far

I am planning to read this one. My afternoon book group read Sycamore Road, the book previous to this one in the series, for August. It had been a long, long time since I read a Grisham book, but I enjoyed it a lot. As to the covers, I vote for the US cover. :-)

Kay, I took a break from him for a while, but really like the 'legal' ones, so will read this one too.

And Kay's vote makes it 3 to 1 for the US this week.
