You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover #247

- You can't judge a book by its cover - which is very true.
But you can like one cover version better than another...

Canadian cover
Australian cover
Megan Goldin's book, The Escape Room, has already released in Australia and comes out in August in Canada and the US. The Canadian cover is on the left and the Australian cover is on the right. Okay, cover blurbs by two authors I really enjoy would have have me picking up either book to have a look inside. And the premise looks really, really good. I am more immediately drawn the colour of the Canadian cover. I wonder if the gold colour is a nod to the author's last name? I like the sliver of a person (okay it's a woman) peaking out over the full face of the Aussie cover. The cityscape suits the story, but I find the Australian cover too dark. So Canadian cover for me this week. Any plans to read The Escape Room? Which cover do you prefer?

I vote for the Canadian cover as well. And, knowing a little about the story, I think it fits better. I was initially drawn to the book by the title. Our daughter and son-in-law like to go to escape rooms. They do it all the time. And, yes, I'm planning on trying it.

I generally don't pay attention to blurbs but the Canadian cover appeals to me more - her peeking through the crack looks sinister to me.

I prefer blue over the mustard yellow & do like the picture of a rainy city at night, so the Aussie cover wins it for me.
Definitely will not read this one. Blurbs from two authors that I’m not a fan of, has me running fast in the other direction LOL

I like the Canadian cover better. I read an ARC of The Escape Room. It was very different than I expected.

So, Canadian cover takes it this week. I'm hearing some mixed opinions on the book. Dianna is the only one who has read it so far - 'very different'. We'll see...
