-You can't judge a book by its cover - which is very true.
But you can like one cover version better than another...

Harriet Tyces' new novel is the Lies You Told. The
US cover is on the left and the
UK cover is on the right. Now at first glance, you might have thought I inserted the same photo twice. Well the same 'frame' has used on both cover with the same ivy details. Differences - the windows themselves - six panes vs 12 panes. I wonder why? We've got subdued lighting in the US window, but much brighter in the UK window. A lone woman is planted in each window, but on opposite sides with one looking out and one looking in. I'm not a fan of either, but will go with the UK cover this week, solely based on the warmer light. What about you? Which cover do you prefer? Any plans to read The Lies You Told?
You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover is a regular feature at A Bookworm's World.
I don't know. I might have missed the differences in the two covers. I like you the cover with the warmer light too. My goodness, any warmth in winter is better than none.
ReplyDeleteTea - They're so similar aren't they? And I agree - the more warmth in winter, the better.
ReplyDeleteThe UK cover also wins it for me. The blank grey wall + simpler more modern window panes on the US cover give it a colder feel.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow green & black colours on the UK cover are much more attractive and the cover also has no blurb at the top so the darker leaves & window stand out more. Plus I’ve always found old-fashioned multi-paned window frames irresistible :)
Thanks for weighing in Icewineanne. The US cover is indeed colder. Good point about the blurb - I had missed that.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a clean sweep for the UK this week.
